Happy New Year and welcome to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update for January 2012. The new year begins with a fabulous and fresh conjunction of the transiting moon to Uranus in Aries. This is a challenge from the stars to proceed through the year with new perspective ; to reach for seemingly unreachable goals utilizing our most vibrant and independent energy. If this is supposed to be the Mayan end of days, then construct your own wheel, and keep on keeping on til the wheels fall off. For those with a firm grasp of planetary transits , Ill list that dates aspects. For those who are learning, each piece of the astrological puzzle contains the secrets and mysteries of the stars and are an amazing gift from above; if we choose to accept it. Each line has meaning . Each degree is significant. The Natal degrees for 21 December 2012 - from The American Ephemeris for the 21st Century: Sun 29 (Anaretic degree) degrees Sagittarius. Welcome to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update for December 2011. Here we are Sun in Sagittarius and all the worlds aglow with holiday preparations. Hold on just one moment though before you go charging into the festivities. Mercury is retrograde in Sagittarius until the 13th of December. This planet that has ruler-ship over modalities of communication; hits a snag with forward momentum when its in this cycle. Appointments, events, even our minds and its thought process- all of them can be slowed a bit at this time. Take advantage of this to organize. Reschedule, reassess, reexamine various areas in your life for where improvements can be made. The full moon this month is in Gemini on the 10th , and its also an eclipse. Stay honest, be trustworthy, and most importantly- be loving. They dont call this time of year "the highest rate of suicide month" for nothing. People may be lonely, they could feel slightly despondent , thousands are hungry..homeless..imprisoned in their own heads, dealing with illness or in need of support. Occupy your time doing helpful things. Goodness is always a sound investment. Do you have an elderly neighbor? Check in on them, bring some cookies or flowers. Have some relations you haven’t spoken with in a while? Call them. Send messages of hope and love. Are you angry or hurt by another? Plant your metaphorical garden and nourish its blooms. Forgive. The planet Saturn is nearing the final degrees of Libra. It will retrograde back for a while before it enters Scorpio next year so make plans but await the proper time to implement them. Legal matters, relationship issues, and long term goals can be further explored after the New Moon in Capricorn on Christmas Eve. Welcome stargazers to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update for November 2011. We presently are engaged in an age old 'battle'. The Sun is transiting the constellation of Scorpio, and in keeping with the vibe of Scorpio, many struggle to find themselves and the meaning of life . Sometimes what we find is magnetic, sensual, and healing. Other times, whats discovered is not as pleasant. Scorpio is the 8th sign in the zodiac. Its watery depths are best investigated by seasoned divers else the waves can overtake them. Despite their loving , loyal demeanor, Scorpios can encounter mistreatment, and difficulties as they swim through life. They must learn to be a beacon of light and realize that try as they might, they are not the cosmic life preserver. They eventually discover through fine tuning their navigational instruments , that treading water is for those who fear the depths . That dark, murky waters can hold secrets, and painful truths . But they are fearless, and they dive deeply. Some of the less actualized and autonomous drift in and out of unconscious, near death, and eventually resurface to take a much needed life affirming breath. After sinking to the bottom and rising up again, they learn . They discover that love trumps suspicion, that compassion works over severity. Also, they learn with 'practice', that even if sex is quite lovely, a saucy romp will only provide short term release but most assuredly can't repair ancient wounds .The reproductive cycle (which is attributed to Scorpio) can set the whole cycle spinning again into the next generation if they fail to realize their worst enemy may in fact be themselves. Welcome stargazers to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update for October 2011. The month begins days after a New Moon in Libra. Libra is the sign of balance and sound judgment. Mercury and Saturn are presently in the sign of The Scales, so ethics, judgments and laws are all being reviewed and discussed. If you've noticed that your balance seems lop sided , blame it on the planet Uranus. It's in an astrological configuration called an opposition. While opposites attract, opposition energy can also create challenges in personal, professional and legal matters. These matters need consideration , courtesy, and intellect as the full moon in Aries , on the 11th (conjunct this transiting Uranus) can bring startling , sudden revelations. Keep a cool head on your shoulders. If you have followed the human law of "Do unto others as you'd have done to you", you will be very successful. If you fail to follow rules however, the consequences can be dire. Uranus rules freedom and independence; and these entities are reserved for those who stand on the side of what is right and just. Welcome stargazers to Coles Cosmic Cupcake Update for September 2011. As a lover of all things cosmic, I'm curious to know if you are all ready for Pluto to go direct? This stargazer sure is. Pluto is the planet of The Underworld. It began its retrograde motion this past April and will finally be surrendering a bit of its earth shattering and forceful power as it gets back into a slow and steady groove in Capricorn.. The changes brought on by a Pluto transit are inevitable, and whilst this seemingly tiny planet is on the retrograde prowl, we are met with an opportunity to transform shi* to sunshine. We face our fears, loose bad habits, and regenerate as stronger, more emancipated , genuine individuals. Outmoded belief systems, toxic environments, and broken down items or people will get a golden chance to change for the better. Positive thoughts , healthy homes and personally empowering repairs will be the new order of the day. Its always a cogent idea to look back periodically to see where we can do what Pluto does best; a metaphorical decay, death and rebirth. We are faced with a more authentic self if we have done the steps and learned that new rhythm to the glorious and amazing dance of life. This change commences on the 16th of September ( a favorite day of mine). Its a love hate love cycle that is now on thankfully on a more committed, less frantic and far more peaceful, loving pace. Welcome stargazers to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update for August 2011. I hope that this horoscope finds everyone happy and healthy, and ready for Mercury retrograde from the 2nd through the 26th of August. The planet of communication will be doing a back spin in Virgo where it recently shifted from the Leo realm . The key to understanding and successfully getting through a Mercury retrograde transit is to familiarize oneself with the prefix "Re" ; Redo, replay, refinish, reorganize to name but a few. This corresponds with a New Moon in Leo the first week in the month. Virgo is grounded , earthy and focused. Leo is passionate, excitable, and playful. The combination is one to be enjoyed by those who consider taking the correct steps to ensure the life's schedules are followed. The pragmatic , sensible side must be taken care of lest the fun can turn from sizzling to sobering. Keep track of your mail. Respond to letters, bills and inquiries that are sitting in piles or drawers. Clean out your car. Tend to the sewing pile. Organize the shelves and feng shui your environment. The placement of objects in our home and work space makes a huge difference as to how our life progresses. Many folks find this transit to be a helpful one as these 'retro returns ' actually improves their ability to concentrate. Sometimes a review and restructuring is just what is needed for progress. Welcome stargazers to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update for July 2011. This month begins with a New Moon partial solar eclipse in Cancer. Cancer is a water sign. The sign is all about The Mother; her home, and her children. It is a protective, nurturing influence and thoughts of family abound when the Cancer sun is shining down upon us. Our memories, many of them subconscious are right at the surface. Did your Nana have a certain cookie recipe that she used for family gatherings? Does your Dad take notion of 'kill it and grill it' to a new art form at the BBQ ? Perhaps Mom hangs a flag and passes out sparklers and water balloons for the kids and grand kids ? Its these images that mold us and guide us as we grow. The festivities this year are heated up by the entry of Mercury into Leo. Venus enters Leo as well mid month. While this grand and shining placement can be filled with passion and romance, Leo can sometimes have a "know-it-all" attitude, so temper any "my way or the highway" feelings that may arise. Leo the lion is the king of the jungle, and as such expects the royal subjects to respond accordingly. Just remember that we are all equals , and all opinions matter. While we honor the living and mourn the dead in Memorial Day proceedings the last day of May the Sun is prepping for the partial solar eclipse in the 11th degree of Gemini on the 1st of June. Gemini is the air sign and is the sign of the talkers, the media and book people that are curious for new knowledge. If their vibe is encouraged with literature, music, drama and intellect , the result is entertaining and thoughtful. If on the other hand, the alter ego twin is not connected , educated or understood; untruths, misunderstandings and resentment can occur. The contributions or changes this eclipse provides depends on other planetary energy as well, but all eclipses are considered to be times of great astrological significance. Keeping in mind that Gemini is the twins in the zodiac; we should as humans on planet earth remain mindful that everyone has a story; and there are usually two sides to most of them . Some rally angrily around the Aries plethora of planets (Uranus and Jupiter are both transiting in Aries now) and disputes and anger escalates. Aries is the sign of war, accidents, aggression. Its also very enthusiastic, energetic and swift. Others see the sorrow, loss and fall out from war and fighting and yearn for peace and calm. Welcome stargazers to Coles Cosmic Cupcake Update for May 2011. The month began with with a New Moon in the sign of Taurus. Projects that are simple and natural will progress far. Taurus is the sign of patience, beauty and common sense. This is quite fitting for this Mothers day weekend as that is what a Mom represents in our lives. The nurturing and caring side of this Taurus transit is coupled with the entry of Mars into Taurus , so the stubborn, protective and practical side of the sign emerges in full force at this time also. Gifts from the heart are to be cherished and appreciated. While money is always needed to make the world go round, the most important gift we can give to others is our undivided attention, our friendly ear, and kind responses. We get alot further with honey than we do with vinegar, but disrupt or interfere with children, relationships, and it could ge pretty tense. Mothers (or the people in our lives that keep our homes together) are as sweet as honey for the most part, but threaten the family ( Mars rules aggression, trauma and accidents) and that sweetness can quickly sour. My favorite Astrology book- The 360 degrees of the Zodiac describes the new moon degree as " a soul full of good will, a hard working , modest, patient, a feminine daintiness, a precision free from fussiness". The full moon this month is in Scorpio so if you fail to utilize these facets of being, you may encounter a bit of a bump in the road , and Scorpio might just drive over that bump with hell fire in their eyes seeking to make people accountable for the less desirable behavior , and to make others become more aware of how their actions effect life for good or bad. Welcome stargazers to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update for April 2011. The month begins on a Mercury Retrograde and a New Moon in Aries. New Moons are beginnings and retrogrades are for revising and renewing so if your efforts to travel, make appointments, and initiate new projects seem in a bit of a twist, you can blame it on Mercury. Unless of course living your life in a twist is how you prefer. Most people though , require a bit of stability, strategy and organization lest the changes that come along can become complex and we then feel uncertain. Stick with what you know and use caution during a Mercury Retrograde. Don't act hastily or impetuously. This transit likes method, familiarity, and planning. A New Moon welcomes you to make a celestial wish. It is in Aries and nothing or no-one stops Aries energy once its moving. Imagine asking the daffodils and crocuses - " What's the rush?". Their answer would most likely be- "I'm pioneering, I'm competitive and I may be a late bloomer but just watch me Bud". Therefore allow for the vital, blossoming energy of Spring to thrive and put your face to the sun. The vitamin D provided by the sun will do you a world of good now after the long winter months. Welcome stargazers to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update and Welcome 2011. January brings celestial influences of a dazzling kind. The year is ushered in with Mercury resuming direct motion on the last day of 2010. This is followed by a New Moon partial Solar eclipse at 13 degrees Capricorn on 4 January. There is a notion of 'absolute power' and 'extremes of ambition' associated with this degree. The sun in Capricorn is now conjunct a transiting Pluto. The important thing to remember is that while our own personal resources, properties, and possessions are indeed an important part of our daily living as we scale the 'mountain to success' , they will be empty and meaningless to us if we do not share. Sharing your heart, your home and your life sounds like a simple enough endeavor. If that's the case, then whats the deal with 1 in 2 marriages ending in divorce ; medications prescribed to depressed people at an alarming rate and the halls of self help groups crammed to capacity? Welcome Stargazers to Coles Cosmic Cupcake for November 2010. So, tell me please; once All Hallows Eve has passed and you remove the costume, do you like what you see underneath? I?m not getting saucy, although several of you Scorpions in the crowd blushed a bit. What's underneath is not simply nudity, but the real self. The truth of who and what we are is hidden so deeply sometimes that it is not always visible to others. Welcome stargazers to Cole's Cosmic Cupcake Update. Allow me to first apologize for my tardiness in getting you this months cupcake. It was too hot for cupcakes and I sought the respite of the forest while camping and am ready to serve it up fresh out of my astrological oven. Speaking of the heat, Saturn and Uranus are in an oppositional effect right now that makes even the coolest and composed of us sweat. Saturn is in Libra and Uranus is hovering around the cusp of Aries and Pisces. This can create tension and opposing views in our careers, our love relationships and our minds. We all want Peace and happiness but everyones ideas of what makes for peaceful and happy relations vary. Do you need more hours or money from your employer? Do you seek more attention and /or commitment from a lover? Do you need to clarify your daily schedule to allow for more time for things you want to do ? If you find that you have needs that have not been met- Then its time to ; as my friend says-" Put on your big girl/ boy panties and get it done!" Once Mercury goes Retrograde in Virgo on the 21st, adjustments aren't as easily accomplished. Everyone knows the saying "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb"-right? I say this is not necessarily the case for March this year. The full moon in Virgo (28th 0f February) is not one to really roar. Clean out the garage and donate to Good Will (and stop by the health food store while doing errands)- now thats a more Virgoan approach. Or...the exact opposite( and as many Virgos are all too aware)-a messy life can have problematic consequences.Virgo sometimes gets a bad wrap as it (as well as Scorpio and Pisces) have been dubbed the fated signs of the zodiac. But without the ever present , hard working, detail oriented Virgos of the world; the well oiled machine could sputter and seize. This month be sure to take care of yourself. Happy New Year to all! A full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Cancer (water sign that represents sentimentality,mother and nourishing body and soul) we rang in 2010 ;emotions and food-thats how Cancerians roll. Nows the time to welcome the fresh and unexpected. A second eclipse follows in Capricorn (pleasure doing business) on 15 January. Make an effort to peel back from situations that drain your energy. Despite the fact that this month has two power packed eclipses that can generate alot of activity -the planet Mercury is Retrograde (see Nov 09 for more Retrograde info.). The planet Neptune resumes direct motion in the sign of Aquarius on 4 November 2009. It retrogrades every year for about 6 months. The word retrograde literally means "backwards'. A planet does'nt actually slide into reverse and back up-thats merely how it appears to us on planet Earth. The energy of that planet can be confusing whilst retrograde;but its also a productive time to go back and review and revise our activities. Neptune rules notions of nostalgia and magic. It also rules drugs and alcohol, and poisons and viruses. Neptune in Aquarius when expressing itself well is concerned with deep feelings of the heart, artistry, music and poetry. In the less developed personality it can be deceitful and shiftless. So rather than getting snockered with the rent money because you are upset or overworked; challenge yourself to take the contemplative and ethical approach to your problems.
